A Camper's Day at Camp "Pokie"
Meals: What are they like?
At Camp Pokonokah Hills, healthy eating and nutrition
are very important.
After breakfast there is camp
clean-up. This is generally the time when unit leaders meet with
the unit director to go over the day's programming. The unit
counselors run the camp clean-up with different groups of
campers each day. Around 9:30 a.m. is when activity time starts.
This may be an activity that a program staff member has planned,
such as swimming or an all camp, but generally it will be what
unit leaders and unit counselors come up with. (You learn all
about activity/program planning during staff training).
Activity time lasts until lunch, which runs similar to
breakfast. Then there is ME TIME! When our campers rest, generally you spend the
time doing paperwork or planning for activities. After that is more activity
time before flag and dinner.
Staff sleep in platform tents and live in a unit with campers
