Four Councils Will Join Together in October 2008
F.R.O.G.S. is an acronym for the four councils that are coming together: Fox Valley, Rock River Valley, Green Hills and Sybaquay. It is not meant to be a name for the new council entity, just a temporary working name.
In 2004, Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) began with a vision of a nationwide Girl Scout organization revitalized. Their ultimate goal is to build a nation of high-capacity councils. A high-capacity council is defined as one who uses resources efficiently, and has the funding, connections and scale to achieve the mission now and in the future.
GSUSA worked with demographers on a map of councils realigned to create high-capacity councils. A Council Realignment Committee for northern Illinois worked together to present a plan that would bring together Fox Valley, Rock River Valley, Green Hills and Sybaquay councils. Counties in this new high-capacity council include Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Kane, Kendall, Lee, McHenry, Ogle, Stephenson, Winnebago and Whiteside counties.
The actual realignment is scheduled to begin October of
2008 with completion of the realignment slated for October 2009.
During the realignment process Sybaquay Council will continue to offer program and services to its
over 10,000 girls and almost 3,000 adults within its current jurisdiction.
