This training takes the place of program level training for
new leaders and changing level training for experienced
leaders.
Training opportunities offered through Girl Scouts - Sybaquay Council are
made possible through the efforts of our volunteer council trainers, who
willingly share their knowledge, enthusiasm, and time with others. With their
dedication we are able to offer a wide variety of courses designed to help you
acquire the skills and resources you need to carry out your volunteer
responsibilities. Our schedule is filled with all the classes you need to
fulfill the requirements of your volunteer position, as well as with a variety
of enrichment classes.
As a Girl Scout volunteer, you are the person who brings the Girl Scout
program to the girls of Sybaquay Council. Whether you are a leader, a troop
committee member or an administrative volunteer, you are important to the
success of Girl Scouting. Sybaquay Council's Board of Directors has adopted the
policy that: Troop/group leaders must complete orientation and leadership
essentials learning opportunities within 12 weeks of their first meeting with
their troop/group (Volunteer Resource Guide, pg. 17)
Sybaquay Council's core of volunteer trainers is eager to support you as you

How to Register
Registration Procedures
Registration is required for all courses to ensure that trainers have
adequate instructional materials and that classes do not go beyond their allowed
requirements. The deadline for class registration is FIVE WORKING DAYS prior to
the class date. Registration after the deadline will be accepted ONLY at the
discretion of the director of adult development. WE CANNOT ACCEPT WALK-INS. Only
participants who have registered through the Girl Scout Center in advance will
receive credit for their training. Register early as COURSES HAVE ENROLLMENT
LIMITS. You will receive registration confirmation from the Girl Scout Center
and will be notified if your class is cancelled. If you are not notified of any
change, the course will be held at the time and location as listed on the
schedule. TO RECEIVE CREDIT FOR A COURSE YOU MUST ATTEND THE ENTIRE SESSION. If
the trainer feels you have missed too much by arriving late or leaving early,
you will need to repeat the course.

Cancellations
Our trainers, like you, are volunteers. Therefore, a minimum of six
participants must be registered for a class to be held. Please call the Girl
Scout Center at 847-741-5521, Ext. 7131 if you find yourself unable to attend a
course for which you are registered. We often have a waiting list and someone
else may be able to take your place.
